Quarantine In OZ – Free Country or POLICE STATE??

This is an account from a returned Australian Emirates Captain ( OZZIE) currently in Quarantine in Queensland. Despite the following :

Quarantined travellers to be allowed out of hotels for ‘WELLNESS WALKS’

Apparently this is at the discretion of our Boys in Blue… ????🤔😳

An email was then sent again;

Hello,

I have just been informed by “Pat” that he has determined, on the basis of an unverifiable statement by a police officer, that he will not allow me to attend wellness walks. He has not provided any justification for not allowing me to go on wellness walks. Having now looked into the matter further, I have seen that the Human Rights Commission QLD has ruled that such wellness walks are not, in fact, at your discretion. The following is an excerpt from the Queensland Human Rights commission FACT sheet-

International law and principles provide that a public entity responsible for a person deprived of liberty during the COVID-19 pandemic should:
sufficiently monitor health, including mental health, of detainees;

tell the person they have been detained and the reasons for it, including precisely defined

restrictions;

if needed, provide access to an interpreter;

allow the person to access their lawyer;

enable the person to notify their family or other persons of their detention and their place of

detention;

allow the person to communicate with family and the outside world;

not deny the person access to family for more than a few days;

ensure access to necessary health care, including mental health care, and treatment;

allow the person to exercise in the open air daily (for prisoners in Queensland, there is a

minimum standard of 2 hours per day).

I also refer you to a recent media story that I recently found, stating that wellness walks are now approved by Queensland health –

In consideration of the above,

I hereby formal request that you comply with the above human rights guidelines and allow me to have Access to fresh air.

Furthermore, prior to my sending this email, I phoned reception to ask to speak with Pat, and was informed that he was not there. I asked reception to request that he contact me in order to discuss the mounting mental stress this is causing, It is rather disturbing that when I attempted to contact a representative of on site QLD health, that I got no response.
